Po Pigs

Cancer Boy, Food — roger @ 9:30 am

Roger Gastman doesn’t eat barbecue because he’s vegetarian and because hes Jewish. But Cancer Boy eats the fuck out of some barbecue. This is a food pyramid about the south. Sometimes barbecue will give you bubble guts, but its worth it to sit on the toilet a few extra times. Po pigs on Edisto is some good ass barbecue. barbecue is pulled pork, slow cooked. it is not using a grill to make hamburgers and hot dogs. get it right America!

The Pumpkin

Cancer Boy — roger @ 6:30 am

Started out with Cancer Boy being too lazy to throw the rotting Halloween pumpkin out. Now he’s waiting until its completely dehydrated and flat so he can kick it off his porch in between his house and his neighbor’s house.

Houston’s + Cancer Boy

Cancer Boy, Chain Restaurants, Food, Houston's — roger @ 4:11 pm

So cancer boy was finally told he could go out to eat after three months of only eating at home. The first meal was at Houston’s in Pasadena. The longstanding rule at all Houston’s is no cell phones and no hats in the dining room. When our table was ready, this bit tried to get cancer boy to take his hat off. He said, “I’m getting over cancer, I’m leaving my hat on.”

No one will front on that shit, and we were seated WITH hat.

Next, cancer boy asked a million questions about the food:

“Is the coleslaw prepared daily?” (It is. Actually, prepared to order.)

“Do you have bottled water that isn’t sparkling?”

“When did the fish come in and can it be cooked well?”

“Can I have spinach even though it isn’t one of the sides today?”

Cancer boy apologized for all the questions and explained that this was his first meal at a restaurant in four months since having a bone marrow transplant, so he was a little nervous. She was very concerned and excited that he had chosen Houston’s for his first meal out. When the check came, Houston’s had comped cancer boy’s meal. If that isn’t the best customer attention, I don’t know what is.

Houston’s for life.
